A Day of Reflection .....

It was a productive day today,Alhamdulillah .Managed to  finally finish our project on electricity .We decided to shift our  class room upstairs as it was extremely cold downstairs ..despite high heating (wood floor i guess).little J worked on his 5 times table and spellings (as  he enjoys  doing it ).M did his metal maths very well even though  it was challenging ,Alhamdulillah .

As they finished their work on time I promised them that I would take them for walk to the corner shop although  it was  a  freezing cold day .But Alhamdulillah it was worth it .Once we were up and out it wasn't  that bad .
SubhanaAllah ,it was a learning experience .As children  are generally   inquisitive, learning can be done anywhere .We talked  about Allah's creations, how barren and dead the trees are now and how Allah revives life back again .

  

We  often fail to appreciate the beauty of nature which would help us  to remember Allah .we are living in time of WWW.(wildly whizzing world ).No time to think or reflect. This applies to me first and formost  .

Time for treat ,they each got to buy something from the shop .

After we returned dh helped M to finish his project .As i previously mentioned before that we usually do projects in the form of lapbooks .We wanted to do it differently this time .So chose to do it in the power point presentation .This project took us a while as we were learning  ICT (ppt)and about electricity at the same time  . so it dragged on a bit .M and I have  learnt a huge amount from this as I am not an expert at computers .

Lets not forget our brothers and sisters suffering in the other side of the world (Gaza),May Allah alleviate  their sufferings  and hardship Ameen !!!

Recount...

M found the maths a bit challenging and struggled a bit .Looks like he requires  a lot of  re enforcement .As we spent a fair amount of time  on that ,we decided to do recount of the story that i read to him  before (abu ayyoub al Ansari).This is the idea I learnt from a good friend of mine .Does work .First i read the story to them ,then we  discussed it and finally to make it really sink in ,we put pen to paper with a bit of illustration .The idea behind is  eventually  to make him  write the whole recount by himself without any prompting .

Recently I've been taking the Arabic as a subject quite seriously .Before we used to do the odd bits and bobs .But even then they  showed  huge interest in  it .So for  now we are going  through the vocabulary " ingredients of the cake" (that's something   I came across on the internet).They have  completed it this week Alhamdulilah .

Next I would like to focus on the vocabulary  "The animals from the quran".And more relevant words from the Quran.

  
Then  they helped me  with lunch ....and went off  to play outside in their bikes .

whilst the girls were  asleep ,I left them with dh who was sorting out  his tax returns .And I took the boys to their friend's .

All the excitement begun when they were just about to sleep ......someone rings to enquire about our bed which we put for sale .Soon the man  arrived ,interested in item and takes it away .......children watching all the commotions .Now ....they wanted to  sleep in our mattress on the floor ,as they  found it EXCITING

so.. we are kicked out     hmmmmmmmmmm...................................

Crack the code

Alhamdulillah ,for another day .We quickly got on the tracks of our morning routines.We usually start with the boys reading Quran straight after their three BBC ( bed,brush and change).Some days are easier than the others .Then they read quran one after the other .Once they are done they straight head for breakfast .
By which time it gives me time to deal with the other two .
We mainly concentrate on the three R's for most part of the morning and anything else..project or lapbooks or even reading loud .......after.
Today the boys did the above said smoothly and got on with work and finished before time .
As dh is off work for two weeks ,the children are excited.
Dh challenged M few weeks ago that if he cracked the code of his work briefcase which was meddled with by J three years ago , He would reward him 5 pounds .M was fiddling with it today and bingo he had cracked it .He was over the moon .Then they wanted to go out to play .Whilst they were out ds1 and I were working the activities through her charlie and lola book,more cutting, gluing and sticking .........which she absolutely enjoyed .
Once the boys were back we did some review on the book i read them .It was one of dh's old book .It was about Abu Ayyoub Al Ansari ,in whose house our beloved Prophet stayed when he first went to Madinah .SubhaAllah ,it was a lesson for me let alone for the children . How tirelessly they worked for Islam ,May Allah give them the highest place in Jannah .
Then we tried to do a acrostic poem about volcanoes for J 's project .
Dh took the boys to the bank and to the library .They came home with ds1's favourite collection of Charlie and Lola books which I had reserved .She was really happy .
Ds2 took her daring step on the stairs which she had done for the first time ,encouraged by her big sister ds1.

hey presto

At fajr time  ,I wake up to see my dh gone and found out that he had gone for the lectures at the mosque . I also found out today that little sweet heart ds1 knew how  to eat her breakfast all by her self Alhamdulillah saves me a  job .The  children had their  breakfast   as usual and we had a little talk  about" practise before you preach"  (which is very difficult with the  children ,because they are good at catching you out ) and also heard a lecture on the cd about  katheeb al anbiya....Shuaib (A.S) for as long as their concentration span can withstand (just few minutes).By that time ,dh was back and it was time for the boys to go for their football training for an hour .And that left me with ds1 and ds2.ds1 has a passion for this cartoon character charlie and lola. we bought charlie and lola magazine last week when we went for a walk so  i had the chance to  read it through  with her and did the activities in it .

Boys were  back from  football ,it was time for a good scrub along with their worst nightmare..............haircut .even if they don't have wild tantrums , they do moan all the way until i finish . quite pleased with their haircut .

Dh found out that the whole Islamic conference was telecasted live on the Internet .but he preferred going there in person .he  played hangman and chess with the children and it gave me  sometime  to have  a power nap(to recharge my battery).

all of us prayed Maghreb together ,though little j refused to join us and wanted  to pray on his own .With a bit of explanation of the reward, he agreed .

Then we tried to look up cars to buy in the middle east as we are going to move to in the spring .

It was not  much use ,Internet marketing hasn't caught on as much as  it is here .so I guess we have to go there and look .

Listened to the lecture as I  was cooking -one thing that really moved my heart was that -the shaikh said in his talk that  at the time of ignorance (jahilliyyah) the pregnant women would be taken by the wet nurse along with the husband  to the desert, when the  time gets closer to the time of delivery .When the wife was in labour the husband would move far far away from them waiting for the signal from the wet nurse .If the baby born was a boy she would lift the babyup  in the air and the  father would come running towards them .But if it was a girl , a hole would have been dug ready next to them and with no hesitation would be buried straight away .subhanaAllah ....subhanaAllah.  Alhamdulillah Allah has unconvered our veils and removed us from the depth of darkness by blessing us with this  beautiful religion of ours .This alone is a great success and liberation for those mothers(and women) who  were forced and oppressed to do this evil act done under the banner of pride and status .Allah Akbar. 

Anyways ,with all this happening J didn't know what to do and was nagging me.M was more in to shield and boomerang making so he was busy with that .After dinner M did the washing up and they all got ready to bed .I read them and they went Zzz................................

Late start

Several sleepless nights due to children falling sick one by one through out the past 2 week has hit us hard  today ....it's only weekend ,we need that break.

Dh being a doctor on-call and wanting to attend some Islamic conference in mosque was shuttling between work ,home (do some shopping )and mosque .I was glad that he was attending those lecture and teaching me .

Today I realised  that how much i have underestimated the  children.They  can be of great help around the house ,if we had enough  patience to teach them the skills .Normally they do the odd jobs of tidying their toys and their rooms ,but today i actually taught them how to wash dishes and put them away .They really enjoyed doing it (don't  know  how long its going to last). InshaAllah it is going to be  part of  our routine from now.

In the afternoon while ds1 and ds2 were as sleep M did he's project on Electricity.He is doing a PowerPoint pre. on electricity (we are almost near completion).Most of our projects that we did previously was in the lap book form ,this time we wanted to do it in a different way .Both M and I learnt a huge amount on the way.

Meanwhile J has shown interest in Volcanoes ,so we did some work on that ....eventually to make lap book .

The boys went out with my dh shopping . 

dh dropped the shopping and went off for the lectures while boys and ds1 helped me to put the shopping way ........unwrapping the cereal boxes and emptying them in to the cereal container .

once they had  finished ,they wanted me to make swords and shields with cereal 

 boxes ...couldn't possibly say no to it .
